A two-day seminar dedicated to development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea in electricity network was held in Tashkent, the newspaper Narodnoye Slovo said.
Representatives of Uzbekenergo, Uzbek companies and eight South Korean companies, engaged in energy sector, participated at the event.
During the seminar, it was underlined that currently Uzbekenergo modernizes and constructs generating capacities, electricity networks and sub-stations to ensure stability of energy system of Uzbekistan. The company implements investment projects and works with international financial institutions and foreign partners to attract additional foreign investments, advanced experience and high technological equipment.
This year, Uzbekenergo carries out 28 investment projects on creation of new capacities and modernization of existing ones. In the first half, some US$247.8 million of investments were used.
South Korean side highly rated potential of energy sector of Uzbekistan and expressed intention to expand development of bilateral cooperation n electricity network.
It is worth to mention that Uzbekenergo and KEPCO have experience of cooperation in implementation of project in Navoi region. Besides, Uzbekistan and South Korea are considering a project on production of solar power panels in Namangan region.
Uzbekistan is constructing a solar power station with the capacity of 100 megawatt in Samarkand and launch of the solar power panels will be useful.
