Young Uzbek tennis players have emerged triumphant at international tournaments and earned crucial qualification points.
Timur Ismailov and Sabina Sharipova have successfully performed in an international tournament held in Andijan that featured athletes from five continents.
In the final of the Futures tournament, Ismailov beat Taiwan’s Ti Chen with a score of 2:6, 7:5, 7:5.
In the final organized among females, Sharipova faced Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova and beat her 7:5, 6:0, thereby winning the main prize.
“A number of world-class tennis courts and sports facilities conducive to effective training sessions for the youth have been built in our country,” says Sabina Sharipova. “We, members of the younger generations, make rational use of the conditions created for us and should strive to secure achievements in prestigious tournaments.”
Talented tennis player Nigina Abduraimova clinched a victory in the international tournament Karuizawa 2016 in Japan and won specialists’ recognition.
At the competitions organized by the International Tennis Federation, Nigina prior to the finals beat Japan’s Haine Ogata – 6:1, 6:3, Yurina Koshino – 6:3, 6:1, Mana Ayukawa – 6:2, 6:3 and the Netherlands’ Indy de Vroome – 7:6, 7:6.
In a competition for the prime prize, Uzbekistan’s No 1 player beat Belgium’s An-Sophie Mestach 6:3, 7:5. The title at these competitions was Abduraimova’s first in this season and won her 50 rating points.
