A joint meeting of the Committees of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on combating corruption and judicial and legal issues, on democratic institutions, non-governmental organizations and citizens’ self-government bodies was held.
During the event, the issues of reflecting proposals and opinions in the draft Constitutional Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, submitted for public discussion, were considered.
It was noted that the nationwide discussion of the draft Constitutional Law continues on the ground. Deputies of the Legislative Chamber, senators and members of the Constitutional Commission take an active part in this process, who, having traveled to the regions, conduct events to explain to residents and the general public the essence and meaning of the Constitutional Law.
Our people take the new changes with all seriousness, unanimously supporting the constitutional reforms. They share their proposals and opinions with deputies, senators, members of the Constitutional Commission.
During the dialogue with the people, it is noted that constitutional reforms in our country are being carried out in a timely manner, and the proposals and initiatives put forward by the President at a meeting with members of the Constitutional Commission are unanimously supported.
The fact that at the moment more than 65,000 proposals on the draft Constitutional Law have been received from the population and civil society institutions indicates that the population has an increasing sense of belonging to the ongoing political processes and its interest in expressing its opinion is increasing.
It is noted that citizens’ proposals are constantly reviewed and analyzed by members of the responsible committees, the Working Group on Working with Proposals and the consolidated information and analytical group at the Constitutional Commission.
The draft Constitutional Law is being finalized by the responsible committees and the Constitutional Commission on the basis of weighty proposals received during national discussions.
Following the results of the event, the Committees identified priority tasks for improving the draft Constitutional Law.
