Thanks to activities of the State Committee on Development of Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Surkhandarya region has been excluded from the list of potentially dangerous destinations for Korean citizens to visit. Before, the region was recognized as a high-risk zone and was not recommended for visiting.
According to the State Committee on Development of Tourism, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Kwon Yongwoo visited the region, got acquainted with the developing infrastructure and activities conducted in the region, with the situation at places and received detailed information on development of the tourism industry, and most importantly with the activities of the tourist police and the concept of safe tourism, which is being successfully implemented in several tourist centers of the republic.
Taking this into account, starting from March 2, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea canceled the decision on inclusion of “Termez and bordering areas with Afghanistan to the list of areas of special attention during the travels of Korean citizens”, which will help to attract thousands of tourists from Korea to Uzbekistan, as well as will serve to development of cooperation in the spheres of economy, tourism and culture between the countries.
