Presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan talk over the phone

On April 3, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Leaders of the two fraternal countries exchanged sincere congratulations and warmest wishes on the occasion of the traditional spring holiday of awakening and renewal of nature – Navruz.
Presidents discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and considered promising areas for expanding partnership, primarily in trade-economic, investment, banking-financial and cultural-educational spheres.
The importance of practical implementation of the agreements reached, including the adopted roadmap between the capitals of the two countries, accelerating the creation of a joint fund to promote mutually beneficial cooperation projects in various sectors of the economy, was noted.
Particular attention was paid to issues of interaction and close coordination in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and effectively counteract the consequences of a pandemic in the region.
Mutual support was expressed for the priority preventive measures being taken in the countries and for taking control over the epidemiological situation.
The importance of continuing active cooperation in the fight against coronavirus was emphasized.
Heads of the two states exchanged views on regional cooperation and the international agenda.
