On January 18, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan led by the Deputy Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai. This was reported by Uzbekistan MFA Press Service.
At the meeting the sides discussed current issues related to implementation of agreements reached by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani within the framework of meetings and negotiations held on December 4-6, 2017, in Tashkent.
The sides exchanged views on the agenda of the upcoming ministerial-level open debate of the UN Security Council on “Building regional partnership in Afghanistan and Central Asia as a model to link security and development”.
At the meeting, some issues of regional and international security, Uzbek-Afghan cooperation in the sphere of counteraction to modern challenges and threats were also considered.
