Recently, German electronic publications Presse Echo and News for Press published articles on tourism opportunities of Kokand. According to the Press Service of the State Committee on Development of Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the city is represented to the attention of readers as a major center of trade, industry, arts and crafts with ancient history.
The publications note that masters of a word and enlighteners, known also outside the region, lived and worked here for a long time, and the unique architectural objects – the palace of the former Kokand ruler Khudayarkhan, the Jami mosque, the Norbutabiy madrasah, the shrines of Dakhmai Shakhan and Madarikhan – always attracted attention of travelers.
Writing about Kokand Regional Studies Museum, it is noted that this historical museum was opened in 1925 in the former palace of Khudayarkhan, the monument of history and architecture, under the protection of the state, was built in the middle of the XIX century by folk artists. Here, the famous Uzbek writer Abdulla Qodiriy was engaged in creative work.
The museum and the palace merged for a long time and became the visiting card of Kokand, one of the most visited objects in Fergana valley. All local residents and guests of the city, including political leaders, writers, poets, artists, actors of the theater and cinema, tourists from all over the world come here for sightseeing and thematic tours.
According to German publications, today special attention in Uzbekistan is paid to development of tourism, effective use of tourism facilities, increasing the flow of travelers and improving the quality of provided services. Tourists will remember a trip to Kokand for a long time as a contact with ancient history and culture, unique traditions of folk crafts and warm hospitality of local residents.
