Fergana gets ready for tourism boom

Fergana region attracts tourists for its historical monuments, places of worship, modern buildings, unique nature.
Many guests visit the regional center, the cities of Kokand and Margilan, Rishtan district.
The most amazing natural places of the region are included in ecotourism route. In the future, new complexes will be built on the territories of the reservoir Karkidon and Shakhimardan village, which will become a place for frequent visits of tourists.
Large-scale activities are carried out in Uchkuprik district on creating a free tourism zone Sarikurgon with an area of 77 hectares.
This year it is planned to increase the number of tourists visiting the region to 1 million people. It is planned to implement 58 projects at the expense of businessmen’s funds, bank loans and foreign investments in order to further develop the tourism potential and infrastructure. This year many international events will be held in Fergana region. In particular, an international artisan festival will be held in Kokand, atlas and crafts festivals will be held in Margilan, an eco-festival, maqom and askiya evenings will take place in Rishtan district.
Taking into account a significant increase in tourist flow this year, 22 investment projects worth 26.2 million USD were developed for provision of hotel services, work has already begun on implementation of 10 of them.
