Bukhara’s 7 cultural heritage sites included in the Islamic World Heritage List

On July 3-6 this year, the 10th Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) session was held.

Seven cultural heritage sites located in Bukhara – the Ismail Samani mausoleum, the Chor Bakr and Bahauddin Naqshband complexes, the Magoki Attar mosque, the Poyi Kalon ensemble, the ancient town of Poykent and the Tashsaroy madrasah – were included in the Islamic World Heritage List and received appropriate certificates.

According to the Cultural Heritage Agency, ICESCO Director General Dr. Salim Mohammed Al-Malik presented the certificates.

Inclusion of Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage sites in the Islamic World Heritage List is of great importance in promoting the rich cultural heritage of the country throughout the world, further recognizing Uzbek culture in the Islamic world.

The Cultural Heritage Agency plans to hold international conferences and practical meetings with the participation of Islamic scholars to promote cultural heritage sites, in particular monuments that have played a significant role in the development of our religion and culture, as well as attract international grants for the preservation of cultural heritage.
