At present, the National Security Service bodies are operating on the basis of the Regulation approved by the government 26 years ago.
The inviolability of this Regulation for a quarter of a century and assessment of any problem as a threat to national security led to an unjustified expansion of powers of this agency.
However, unstable situations arising in some regions of the world lead to activation of migration process, and they, in turn, to the spread of terrorism and extremism, and turning them into global problems, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his Address to the members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
In such a situation, preserving our national statehood, independence, peaceful and tranquil life of our people, security should become a priority task for us. From this point of view, it is time to reform the activities of the National Security Service bodies taking into account all the threats of the era of globalization.
In this regard, the Head of our state proposed to develop and adopt laws “On law enforcement agencies” and “On the National Security Service”.
