– Uzbekistan has made significant progress in the implementation of large-scale socio-economic transformation. In the short period of time in the life of the Uzbek people tremendous positive changes has undergone. Thanks to independence the Republic managed to make a giant step in its development. The country has made significant social and economic changes, has consistently promoted democratic reform, liberalization and modernization of all spheres of society.

The first time I visited your country in December last year, and I am pleased to note that during the development of sovereign Uzbekistan done a great creative work in building a democratic state of law and a strong civil society.

You can be proud of 24 years stage passed, the results of reforms in the political, economic and social spheres, as well as institutional changes. Of course, much remains to be done. But, I think, huge potential, which is available in your country, leaves no doubt as to the continued progress and prosperity.

I’m very fond of Uzbekistan, admiring its history, rich culture and traditions. Visited Samarkand, I experienced a lot of satisfaction fr om the fact that I had a chance to visit this legendary city, which is the heritage not only of the Uzbek people, but also of world civilization.

After the first years of independence your country given special attention to the study and revival of the rich historical heritage, its preservation for future generations.

I was pleased to visit the edge of prominent thinkers of the Middle Ages, wh ere he lived and worked as a great scholar and thinker Mirzo Ulugbek, whose name is known throughout the world.

During the celebration of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan would like to wish all the best to the Uzbek people, including my friends, with whom I had the honor of meeting during my visit to your country. I think Uzbekistan will reach great heights in the future socio-political and socio-economic development – B.Reyntjens underlined.
