The visit of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights, U.Muhammadiev to France, held on the invitation of the French side from 24th to 26th of June, is finished.
As it was previously reported, meetings and negotiations with the Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of France J.Toubon, chairman of the inter-parliamentary friendship group “France-Uzbekistan” senator D.Jilo, chairman of the friendship group “France-Uzbekistan” in the National Assembly F. Meunier, Ambassador for Human Rights of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France P.Sparacino-Tilley were held during the visit.
Along with this, the Uzbek delegation held talks with the Secretary General under the Chief Inspector of prisons A.Ferran, Chairman of the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights K.Lazerj, as well as with the heads of several departments of the Institute of Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of France.
The aim of the visit is experience exchange in the sphere of activities of the Ombudsman, the interaction of state bodies and civil society institutions in this area, as well as discussion of the prospects of further cooperation between the two countries’ ombudsmen.
Estimating the results of the visit and the talks in Paris, Rights Defender (Ombudsman), Jacques Toubon, said:
– The visit of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights U.Muhammadiev to France is important.
Rights Defender in France has the primary role in ensuring human rights, and we are willing to share our experiences. It is very useful for us to be acquainted with the principles of work and experience of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis on issues of human rights in your country.
We are pleased to emphasize that the institution acts independently with all the necessary legislation.
We consider that the exchange of experience and cooperation between the Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of France and the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights will be fruitful, in order to ensure further promotion of human rights.
