Work on the definition of the technology to be used in the development of the largest deposits of titanomagnetite ores “Tebinbulak” is almost at completion, total reserves of which estimated at more than 3 bln. tons, according to Information Agency Uzbekistan Today.
Currently, the selection of the right technology ends production of titanomagnetite ores. They include in addition to the iron present other mineral components, which to a greater or lesser extent hinder the implementation of existing technological schemes.
Soon the results will be obtained from the Finnish company Outotec, which offered its technology SL/RN. Once the final tests pass there will be a final decision on the timing of implementation.
Titanomagnetite ore of deposit “Tebinbulak” is located in the district Karauzak of Karakalpakstan. The project is planned to develop a career with annual ore production – 22 million tons, construction of mining and processing plant for the production of iron ore with an average iron content – 65%, as well as the metallurgical complex to obtain cast iron with an annual output – 1.5 million tons.
Mining of new deposits in Uzbekistan will start the production of steel from its own raw materials.
