In the regular issue of the newspaper The Times Kuwait an article devoted to the ancient Samarkand was published.
It notes that the history of the city counts for 2500 years, and it is intertwined with the eastern and western cultures.
As the newspaper writes, the majestic and beautiful Samarkand was always amazing and attracting center. Great poets and historians called it “Rome of the East” and “Pearl of the eastern Muslim world”.
Special attention is paid to the publication of the fact that in Samarkand there are unique historical and architectural monuments of great scientific and cultural heritage, world famous centers of handicrafts. Thanks to its numerous material and spiritual values of the city included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
In conclusion it emphasizes that Samarkand is one of the centers of human civilization along with Babylon, Memphis, Athens, Rome, Alexandria and Byzantium.
