Three new varieties of strawberries – “Dildor”, “Kamola” and “Dilnoz” – have been created as a result of scientific research conducted at the Scientific Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking named after academician Makhmud Mirzayev under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the Ministry, the variety “Dildor” is intended for growing in greenhouses and open areas, bears fruit for 5-6 months a year, and is very resistant to hot weather. “Kamola” and “Dilnoz” can only be grown in open areas, they bear fruit once a year. These varieties of strawberries were bred by local selection.
Strawberry varieties “Uzbekistanskaya”, “Culver”, “Tashkentskaya”, “Muto” (Crimean), “Zenga-Zengana” are registered in the State Register of Agricultural Crops recommended for sowing in Uzbekistan. In 2014, “O’zbekiston Go’zali” was added to the register, in 2018 “Beautiful”, “Redgauntlet”, “Cobra”, and in 2020 – “Medway”.
According to experts, large-scale strawberry plantations are being created in Tashkent, Namangan, Andijan, Fergana, Surkhandarya and Samarkand regions. Even in Karakalpakstan, strawberries give high yields.
