President entrusted the development of a program of improvement and development of Gulistan for 2015-2019

On March 9, 2015, the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a decree “On the development of a program for further improvement of the drainage system, improving reclamation state and lower the groundwater level, the development of engineering and communication and social infrastructure of Gulistan for 2015-2019 “.

The Decree approved the composition of the National Commission for the development and implementation of the program.

The Republican Commission (Mirziyoev Sh) entrusted within three months to develop and submit to the established procedure for the approval of the draft Program, which provides a set of measures to:

– conducting scientific hydrogeological studies and based on the implementation of measures to improve reclamation and irrigation networks and other infrastructure on dewatering, as well as concreting and the implementation of infiltration events of the channel “Dustlik” with the strengthening of specialized management services throughout the system;

– improve the architectural appearance of the city of Gulistan and the creation of architectural ensembles by reconstruction of existing and construction of new city-forming areas and landscaped gardens;

– a radical improvement of the system of road transport infrastructure, providing for the construction, reconstruction and major repair of public roads and main streets;

– modernization of engineering infrastructure through the construction and reconstruction of water supply, sewerage, irrigation, electricity, gas, heating and telecommunications;

– arrangement of housing at the expense of reconstruction and repair of existing residential buildings;

– development of social and market infrastructure at the expense of reconstruction and capital repair of objects, providing a comprehensive solution to the problems of social services and leisure activities of the population, especially young people.

In addition, the order of the President charged within a month to complete the development of the General plan of the city of Gulistan for the period up to 2030, with special attention to quality development of the section on improvement of urban drainage systems.

Over 26,000 new small businesses created in Uzbekistan in 2014

Over 26,000 new small business entities (excluding private and dekhkan farms) were recorded in Uzbekistan in 2014, the pres service of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

In January-December 2014, small business entities produced 56.1% of the total GDP which is 0,3 percentage points more than in January-December 2013.

In January-December 2014 small business entities employed 9.897 million persons (77.2% of total persons employed in the economy), including 7.58 million persons of the individual sector and 2.317 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms.

The number of persons engaged in the private sector of small business was 9.078 million or 91.7% of total employment in the sphere of small business.

The small businesses produced industrial output to the amount of 23.967 trillion soums (31.9% of total industrial production) in 2014, or grew by 17.6% year-on-year(currency rates of CB RU from 12.03.2015   1$= 2472.34 soums).

The sector utilized 11.716 trillion soums of investments (34.8% of total utilized investments) in 2014. The growth rate made up 13.4% year-on-year.

The small business entities executed construction works for 13.897 trillion soums (70.3% of total construction works), which grew by 15.5% year-on-year (45.3% of total imports).

The sector ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 8.6% (83.4% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover by 7.8% (88.7% of total passenger turnover).

They formed 45.4% (26.609 trillion soums) of total retail trade turnover (the growth by 12.2%) and 48.5% (11.004 trillion soums) of total paid services (the growth by 16.9%).

The small businesses exported products (goods and services) worth US$3.662 billion (26% of total exports), imported products (goods and services) for US$6,329 billion.

Uzbekugol to implement projects for $543.6m in 2015

Uzbekugol (Uzbek coal) joint stock company is planning to implement several investment projects for $543.6 million in 2015, Turkiston-press news agency reported.

In particular, Uzbekugol will construct Apartak mine, which will increase coal production up to 1 million tonnes a year.

At the same time, it is planned to modernize Shargunkomir, which will allow annually to mine up to 900,000 tonnes of coal.

The company plans to organize enterprises on production of coal briquettes in 2015, according to Narodnoye Slovo newspaper.

In near future, the industry is planning to increase mining volume by 3-4 times, which will also allow to increase mining of other natural resources such as kaolin, lime and pebbles. These products will be realized to other enterprises, which produce construction materials such as cement, bricks, ceramic tiles, etc.

A business forum of representatives of pharmaceutical companies of Uzbekistan and India was held in Tashkent.
