Westminster International University in Tashkent hosted an International Conference on Reforms on Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition in Central Asia.
Rector of the Westminster International University in Tashkent Komiljon Karimov, Director of the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov, Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute Shenggen Fan and others noted that food security is one of the important factors for the country’s progress, its political, economic and spiritual development.
A number of measures are being implemented in Uzbekistan on ensuring food security, saturating domestic market with qualitative, safe and cheap products, strengthening purchasing power of the population. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s Decree “On measures for further ensuring food security of the country” of January 16, 2018 contributes to rising activities in this direction to a new level.
The International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington annually analyzes and prepares reports on global food problems. At the international forum, information from the report was presented, situation in Central Asia, particularly, in Uzbekistan was considered.
Relevant reports were heard, views were exchanged on the theme of the conference.
