In the speech at the solemn ceremony dedicated to May 9 – Day of Memory and Honor, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the worthy contribution of people of Uzbekistan to the great victory.
More than 120 thousand Uzbekistan people were awarded military orders and medals, including 280 were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, 82 were awarded the “Glory” orders of all three degrees.
And Uzbekistan itself turned into a reliable rear during the war years. Industrial enterprises were reoriented for military needs, everything was done to achieve victory.
Women, elderly people, and adolescents worked tirelessly and selflessly together with workers and engineers in order to set up work of more than one hundred factories, evacuated to our republic.
During the war years, our people sent to the front more than 2 thousand aircraft, many other military equipment and ammunition, military-sanitary trains, hundreds of field kitchens, a huge amount of food, uniforms and other necessary products.
Due to the funds collected by workers of Uzbekistan, dozens of military aircraft and tanks, combat vehicles were manufactured.
Today, Tashkent, all regions and districts of the country, our people are paying a deep respect to their compatriots who died in the war, in commemoration areas. Warm, heartfelt meetings are held with veterans of war and labor, they are given memorable gifts.
It is very important for us that the elderly, dear fathers and mothers, are healthy and happy with their lives. After all, their prayers are a blessing for the whole country.
