Regular session of the International Press Club was devoted to the results of Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan “Peace process, security cooperation and regional connectivity”.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis S.Safayev, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan I.Irgashev, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia N.Gherman, Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan Mufti U.Alimov and others noted that the conference “Peace process, security cooperation and regional connectivity” gave a new impetus to the overall efforts on ensuring security and stability in the region. It was emphasized that the adopted Tashkent Declaration covered all important aspects of this process, such as reaching a consensus between the government of Afghanistan and other political forces within the country, countering terrorism and illicit drug trafficking, regional economic cooperation.
The Tashkent conference became another important step towards a constructive discussion of solution of the Afghan problem and joint development of solutions.
The importance of holding direct talks without preconditions and the unity of views of the international community on this matter was noted.
