On May 25 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Republic of Turkey headed by Deputy Prime Minister Yildirim Tugrul Turkes, who is staying in our country as part of the fourth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Particular attention during the meeting was devoted to expanding practical cooperation with leading Turkish companies – joint implementation of specific projects to create modern high-tech industries of Uzbekistan, including textile, leather, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, construction materials, deep processing of agricultural products and other areas, including in the framework of the Free Economic Zone “Urgut”.
Welcoming the guest, the Head of State with satisfaction noted the intensification of contacts and bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
It was stressed that fruitful meetings at the highest level during the visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Samarkand on November 17-18 last year as well as within the framework of the International Forum “One Belt, One Road” in Beijing on May 14 this year gave a powerful impetus and opened new opportunities for development of a full-scale and mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries.
They talked about the significant potential for cooperation in tourism, including the creation of modern tourist infrastructure facilities, promotion of joint tourism products, as well as training of qualified specialists in this field.
The parties outlined the results of the regular meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission and the investment forum held on May 25 in Tashkent with the participation of companies and enterprises of Uzbekistan and Turkey, during which promising directions and projects of the business partnership were determined.
Yildirim Tugrul Turkesh expressed gratitude for the warm reception of the Turkish delegation and conveyed the words of deep respect and best wishes of the head of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. On behalf of the leadership of Turkey, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Uzbek side for support and created favourable conditions for activities of Turkish companies in our country and also expressed readiness for development of full-scale bilateral cooperation.
