Termez hosted an international business forum “Open South”, dedicated to the investment, export and tourism potential of Surkhandarya region.
The forum was attended by members of diplomatic corps, representatives of foreign companies operating in Uzbekistan, more than 160 representatives of business circles from about 20 countries, entrepreneurs of the region, travel agents and farmers.
At the business forum, a number of ministries and committees held a presentation of tourism, investment, export potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan, informed participants of the current customs tariffs, benefits and preferences. The investment and tourism opportunities of Surkhandarya region were demonstrated. Presentations were also made by foreign entrepreneurs, investing in development of the region.
At the international business forum, the industrial potential and favorable business environment of Surkhandarya region aroused interest among businessmen of Afghanistan, Austria, Czech Republic, India, Indonesia, Russia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine.
The southern region of the country differs from other regions of Uzbekistan with special climatic conditions and fertile land for growing agricultural products. Here, fruit, vegetable and melon products ripen earlier than in other regions. This creates favorable conditions for its realization. Moderate winter allows to carry out triple-cropping a year. For example, Gold Dried Fruits company implemented projects worth 83.3 million dollars, Jarkurgon Meva-Sabzavot enterprise – worth $6 million, most of the products are exported.
Within the framework of the international business forum, an exhibition-fair of finished products, natural resources and agricultural raw materials was held.
Within the framework of the event, a meeting of the khokim of Surkhandarya region with representatives of diplomatic corps was organized.
